What happens after I book my appointment?After you book your appointment, I will follow up via text message with the number you provide to confirm our time and meeting location. In some cases I may confirm a few details with you in order to prepare us for a successful notarization.What do I need to bring to my appointment?You’ll need the document(s) needing notarized, a valid, government-issued photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport), and your payment. The name on your ID must match the name on your document. The ID must be current or not more than 3 years expired prior to the notarial act. In some cases I may ask to see a second form of ID to confirm your identity.How long will my appointment take?Appointments are generally quick and should take no more than 10-15 minutes.Where will we meet?When you book your appointment through the site, you'll enter a preferred address. You may choose you home, work, hospital, or another public location. Please note that I do not enter homes, but am happy to meet with you at your door/outside. Travel fees are calculated from the location you enter - see pricing sheet for details.What happens at the appointment?Once I arrive, I will ask for IDs of anyone signing and fill in details in my notary journal. I will briefly glance over the document(s) to confirm that they are completely filled out (and/or that any blanks have been properly lined through). I will ask you to sign my notary journal and possibly also provide a thumb print.If required, I will issue an oath or affirmation to each signer/credible witness.I will then witness signature(s) and complete the notarial section of the document.Once notarization is finished, you'll complete payment and then we're done!Do I need to sign the document before the appointment?No — please wait to sign the document in front of me so I can properly witness your signature. In certain cases, I will be notarizing your acknowledgement that you were the person who willingly signed the document, in which case it may already have been signed.Can you explain or give advice about my document?No. As a notary public, I am not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice or explain the contents of your documents. If you have questions, you should consult a qualified attorney.What could prevent my documents from being notarized at the appointment?There are a few situations where I may not be able to complete a notarization:-- The signer does not have valid, acceptable identification
-- The signer is not present at the time of the appointment
-- The signer appears unwilling, unsure, or unable to understand what they are signing
These requirements are in place to comply with Ohio law and help protect all parties involved. If you're unsure about anything ahead of your appointment, feel free to reach out.In the case that notarization is not able to be completed, the notarial fee(s) would not be collected, however the travel fee would still be owed.How does payment work?When booking your appointment on the website, you will be prompted to pay the base travel fee in order to reserve your time slot. Once the notarization is complete, I will collect payment for the notarizations themself as well as any additional agreed upon fees.If booking over the phone or via text/email, I will give you a quote for travel/service which will be due in full at the completion of the appointment.I accept card (tap-to-pay), cash, and electronic payments (such as Venmo or similar platforms).Can you notarize documents for someone who is not present?No. All signers must be physically present at the time of notarization.What if I don’t have a valid ID?In some cases, a credible witness may be used, but this must meet specific legal requirements. What is your availability?I am a full time notary public/signing agent and have flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and holidays. I'm also an early bird, so reach out to me if you have an early morning signing!You can check my calendar directly in the booking section of this page.What is your printing capability?I have reliable dual-tray printing for letter and legal documents.How do you handle scanbacks and document return?Scanbacks are completed promptly after the signing with a mobile scanner and returned as requested.How do you ensure accuracy?I implement a triple check system for all loan packages to eliminate errors and ensure accuracy. I check the documents as they are being signed, then immediately following the signing while still at the table, then once more immediately after getting into my car following the appointment.How do you communicate throughout the process?When working with me, you can expect to receive:➖ confirmation via text/email of the agreed upon appointment➖ confirmation that documents have been received and printed➖ confirmation of my ETA while en route to the signing OR confirmation that I have arrived at the signing (whichever makes the most sense in a given circumstance)➖ a confirmation that the signing has been completed, that documents have been triple checked, and that the post-signing work is in motionWhat is your approach at the signing table?I have many years of experience working with people in high stress situations, and am great at meeting folks where they're at. I guide signers efficiently through the process, always maintaining compliance and professionalism while keeping things as comfortable and relaxed as possible for the clients.What happens if an issue arises during a signing?If any issues come up, I communicate immediately with the appropriate contact and work quickly to resolve them while keeping the signing on track whenever possible.What types of signings do you handle?I handle a wide range of loan signings, including buyer and seller packages, refinances, and HELOCs.
